The IFMA International Antalya Open Muaythai Cup is billed as the final major test before the global championship season on the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) calendar. The 13th edition, organised by the Turkish Muaythai Federation, took place from 25 to 29 March 2026 at the Bahri Tanrıkulu Sports Hall in Kemer. Athletes from dozens of countries competed in junior, senior and masters divisions. Here’s an overview of the event and practical tips for visiting teams.

The cup at a glance

  • 2026: 25–29 March, 13th edition (opening ceremony 26 March, finals 29 March)
  • Venue: Bahri Tanrıkulu Sports Hall, Kemer
  • Organiser: Turkish Muaythai Federation, on the IFMA calendar
  • Divisions: junior, senior and masters, plus the Wai Kru and Mai Muay disciplines alongside combat
  • Participation: around 390 athletes from 25 countries according to the federation. IFMA reports more than 500 entries across all disciplines.

Muaythai and its traditional disciplines

Known as “the art of eight limbs”, muaythai is a Thai combat sport that combines punches, kicks, knees and elbows. At IFMA events, two traditional disciplines are judged alongside the fights:

  • Wai Kru: a pre-fight ritual dance that shows respect for teachers and tradition.
  • Mai Muay: a choreographed, aesthetic demonstration of muaythai techniques.

For first-time spectators these disciplines are a great way to see the cultural side of the sport, and they’re just as compelling as the fights.

Why Kemer in March?

March is the start of spring in Kemer, when hotels are quieter before the season. For teams that means a calm setting for making weight, final training and recovery. The Bahri Tanrıkulu Sports Hall has hosted international events before, including the 2024 World Bocce Championship.

Where to stay for teams and families
